How do you know when it’s time for your next scheduled maintenance? 

There are two ways. The first is based on the number of miles you’ve driven. Depending on the age of your vehicle, your maintenance will fall due when you hit each 5,000 or 10,000 miles. We’ll take a look at this in more detail later on.

The second way is based on the amount of time between your last scheduled maintenance. You should be working on a twelve-monthly cycle.

With two methods to go by, which do you choose? Well, it’s fairly simple. You go by whichever comes first. Let’s say you’re due your next maintenance at 10,000 miles or 12 months. If you hit 10,000 miles before the 12 months is up, you should book in. If 12 months pass and you haven’t hit 10,000 miles, you should still book in.

That way, you can be sure you’re always getting your Audi maintained exactly when it should be.

You don’t need to completely overhaul your Audi every time you have maintenance.

The official Audi schedule alternates between minor maintenance and standard maintenance. Your first maintenance will be a minor one, and the next a standard one, and the next a minor one, and so on and so on. If you forget which one you have coming up next, just check your maintenance documents. 

What’s the difference between the two types? A minor service usually looks for any issues via a vehicle inspection and diagnostic checks. It will also involve a change of fluids. A major service is far more thorough, going much deeper in the inspection and testing of the components of your car. 

Think of the minor maintenance as a quick check-up and the standard as a full medical.

Your exact schedule will depend on how old your Audi is.

That’s because Audi changed the schedule for cars sold in 2017 and later. That means a new Audi will have a different maintenance schedule than an older one.

If your Audi is a 2017 model or later, then your maintenance will fall on the 10’s. That means your first minor maintenance will be at 10,000 miles, or 12 months, whichever comes sooner. Your first standard maintenance will be at 20,000 miles, your next minor maintenance at 30,000 miles, and so on.

Older Audis (2016 models or earlier) will have their scheduled maintenance on the 5’s. That means the first minor maintenance will be after 5,000 miles. The first standard maintenance will be at 15,000 miles. The next minor maintenance is at 25,000 miles, and so on. 

If you lose track of your mileage, don’t panic. Just make sure you book your car in for maintenance as soon as you can.

There are some maintenance jobs that fall outside of the minor/standard maintenance 10,000-mile schedule. These are jobs that don’t need service regularly but do need looking at on occasion.
